Description

Shobdon Court is a service wing of a country house, now functioning as a house itself. It dates from the early 18th century and was remodeled around 1933. The building is constructed of brick with stone dressings and features a hipped slate roof. The northern section is a square block with a central stack, while the southern part is a 1930s addition, and there is an additional 18th-century range extending to the west.

On the garden front to the east, the left side has a one-storey range with two timber cross windows beneath stone wedge lintels. The center features a slightly recessed two-storey section, with the ground floor advanced to create a porch. The central entrance, located in a canted bay, has a two-leaf glazed door flanked by two 2-light casements. To the right is a two-storey section with an attic, which is illuminated by three pedimented dormers. The tall windows serve both storeys, with a blind center. The central stack on this block is made of brick and has arcaded sides dressed with ashlar.

The southern front showcases a central gabled 18th-century block with rusticated ashlar quoins and finials at the corners. The stone doorcase features a moulded architrave with paired consoles that support an enriched entablature and a segmental pediment. The pediment is adorned with an eagle with outstretched wings. Shobdon Court, to which this building was originally attached, was demolished in 1933.
