Description

Bat and Ball Wickets is a house with a service wing, now divided into two dwellings. It dates from the 17th century and was refronted and extended in the 18th century. The building has a timber-frame core encased in brick, with additional extensions in colourwashed flint and brick, topped with a slate roof.

The garden front is two stories high and has three bays. To the right of the center, there is an 18th-century door in a solid segmental-headed frame, which is sheltered by a 20th-century gabled porch. Each bay features a 19th-century five-light casement window with a segmental head, with a three-light casement window above. To the left of the center bay, there is a two-light segmental-headed casement window with a two-light casement window above, all set beneath a blue header band and a dentilled cornice. The roof is hipped to the left, featuring a large stack above the door and a gable end stack.

The road facade includes a 19th-century planked door with a rectangular light to the right of the end wall of the house, flanked by segmental-headed two-light casement windows. To the right of the door, there is a two-bay service wing with exposed 18th-century scantling timber on the first floor and a large 20th-century four-light steel window.
