Description

Goffs Oak, Lee Cot and The Nook is a row of three cottages that were originally a single house. The building dates from the 17th century and was extended in the 18th century, with alterations made in the 20th century. It features a timber frame with colourwashed brick infill, and the right cottage has been rendered with false framing applied to its exterior. The cottages have a thatched roof and consist of three bays, including a smoke bay, with a fourth bay added to the right. An outshot was added to the left, and a two-bay cottage was added to the right in the 18th century. All cottages are 1½ storeys high.

The doors are planked and date from the 19th century, located in the left bay, to the left of the original right bay, and to the left of the 18th-century cottage. Each bay of timber frame has a two-light casement window, with a three-light casement in the left cottage. Above or just to the left of each door, there is an eyebrow dormer with a two-light casement, and below the eaves, there are two-light casements, with a blocked similar window in the right timber-frame bay. The roof is hipped with stacks above, and the ridge is higher over the 18th-century right bays, featuring a ridge piece. The right-end cottage, known as The Nook, is included for its group value.
