Description
This is a row of cottages, dating to the late 18th century, with a tablet indicating 1834 on “The Old Post Office,” suggesting a possible earlier date. The cottages are constructed of brick with blue headers, partially colourwashed, and have thatched roofs. The row comprises a pair of 2-bay cottages to the left and a 4-bay cottage to the right, arranged in an irregular pattern.
The left cottages each have a 20th-century planked door to one side of the centre, with a small 3-light casement window beside it. The end bays contain 2-light, segmental-headed casement windows. Above, there are eyebrow dormers containing 2-light casements. The 4-bay cottage has a central glazed door, 2-light casement windows to the left, and a 3-light casement at the right end. All windows, except for a small light to the right of the centre door, have segmental heads. The eyebrow dormers above contain 4 casements, and a tablet is positioned above the door.
The roof abuts the taller Bacton Thatch to the left and is half-hipped to the right. Ridge stacks are located above the centre of the pairs of cottages, in the centre of the right cottage, and to the left of the centre of the right cottage.
