Description

This is a cottage, originally dating to the 16th century, with alterations in the 18th century. It is timber-frame construction with brick infill, incorporating flint and additions. The roof is thatched to the front and tiled to the rear. The original core of the building is a 3-bay timber-frame layout, with a 19th-century outshot projecting from each side and a 20th-century wing to the rear. The front of the cottage is one and a half storeys high, with three bays, and the outshot extends to the two bays on the right. The outshot contains two 20th-century 2-light casement windows, set within an eyebrow shape. A door is located in the left end of the outshot, and to the left is a 20th-century 3-light casement window within a segmental-headed opening. Above the window is a 2-light casement set on a wallplate, also with an eyebrow dormer. To the right, there are two inverted 2-light eyebrow dormers. The roof is half-hipped, with a ridge piece and outshots on each side. The cottage has 18th-century end chimneys.
