Description

Meadowside Cottages is a pair of houses that were originally a single dwelling. The building dates from the 17th century but was refaced in 1796, as noted on a tablet. It features a timber frame with plaster infill, encased in flint with brick dressings, and has a thatched roof. The structure is oriented end-on to the road and consists of a three-bay 17th-century house with a wide bay added at the road end and an outshot on one side from when it was refaced.

On the garden side, the building is one and a half stories tall with four bays, including an added bay at the right end. There is an 18th-century planked door in a solid frame to the left of the center, topped with a pent-roofed hood. The facade features four 19th-century two-light segmental-headed casements with brick bands at the top and bottom, except for the smaller right window, which is positioned lower and has a 19th-century planked door to its right, with the bands stopping to the left. Above, there are four 19th-century two-light eyebrow dormers set on a brick band at wallplate level, with the right dormer set lower, cutting into the band. The roof is half-hipped to the right and hipped to the left, with stacks located on the ridge above the central door and on the other side of the ridge at the right end.
