Description
The Bateman Arms is a public house dating from the early 18th century, with some alterations made in the late 20th century. It features a timber-frame construction with rendered infill and a hipped tile roof. There is a gable-end stack on the right and two lateral stacks at the rear. The building has two storeys plus an attic, which is illuminated by two hipped dormers and has a coved cornice.
On the front, there are three windows, each with 2-light casements and rectangular leaded quarries. The ground floor includes a late 20th-century square bay window on the right. The entrance is slightly to the left of centre and is sheltered by a semi-circular wooden canopy supported by consoles, leading to a six-panelled door. A late 20th-century inn sign hangs from an 18th-century wrought iron bracket. The framing consists of four rectangular panels high to the first floor and two to the ground floor. Additionally, there is a single-storey painted brick extension added in the late 20th century on the right.
