Description
The dovecote, built in the early 18th century and restored in 1832, is located in Shobdon Park. It features a brick structure set on a coursed rubble plinth with a slate roof and has an octagonal plan. The building is two storeys high, with the upper storey having a blind segmental headed window on each side and a loft door on the north side. The entrance to the ground floor, located on the south side, has a pedimented stone doorcase that is dated 1832. The roof is topped with an octagonal timber glover that has semi-circular sides and is now glazed. Inside, the lower floor is used for garden storage, while the upper stage is reported to still have nesting boxes and a potence. The dovecote is situated within the walls of the kitchen garden.
