Description

This milestone, dating from around 1840, is located near the exit of Farnsley Lane in the parish of Eyam, Middleton Dale. It is made of gritstone and features a stone slab with slightly splayed sides and a curved top. The east side of the milestone has the inscriptions 'TO TIDESWELL/ MILES/1, CHAPEL/11, MANCHESTER/31', while the west side reads 'TO CHESTERFIELD /12 MILES'.
