Description

This is a milestone located on Clodhall Lane in the parish of Baslow and Bubnell. It dates from the 18th century and is made of tapering gritstone with a double curved arched top. The stone is inscribed with directions, indicating that it is 9 miles to Tidefwell, 35 miles to Manchester, and 7 miles to Chesterfield. This milestone is part of the Chesterfield to Henstone Lane turnpike, which was established in 1759.
