Description

PARISH OF BASLOW & BUBNELL BIG MOOR SK 27 NE 1/7 Group of Guidestones at OS27 75 II Group of four guidestones on Big Moor. Probably C18. Gritstone shafts, square in plan, much weathered. Two have lost all trace of inscriptions, a third is inscribed BAS and the fourth is inscribed To/ TIDSW/ ELL on one face, To/ SHEFIELD on another and on the other two sides are various initials and the dates 1737 and 1775. They form part of an old trackway system.
