Description
This guide pillar, located at the junction with Lumb Lane, Onesmoor Bottom, and Onesacre Road on the west side of the junction, dates from the 19th century, with its lettering recut in the 20th century. It is made of gritstone, measuring approximately 16 inches square and standing 3 feet high, featuring a shallow pyramidal top. The lettering is set in recessed bands, with original direction-indicating fingers positioned above and below. As of June 1984, the pillar has been displaced. When correctly oriented, the directions indicated should read:
On the north-east face: SHEFFIELD, BOLSTERSTONE;
On the south-east face: BRADFIELD, OUGHTIBRIDGE;
On the north-west face: BRADFIELD, R--M;
On the south-west face: SHEFFIELD, R--M.
