Description
This guide pillar, dating from the 19th century, is located at the junction with Onesmoor Road on the west side of the junction. It is made of gritstone, measuring approximately 16 inches square and standing 4 feet 6 inches high. The lettering has been recut in the 20th century and is set in recessed bands, with original direction arrows below. The letters R and M are positioned on either side of the relevant mileages, although these are now illegible. A benchmark can be found on the south-east face.
The inscriptions on the pillar include "BRADFIELD" on the south-east face, "SHEFFIELD BOLSTERSTONE" on the north-east face, "BRADFIELD" again on the north-west face, and "BOLSTERSTONE MIDHOPE" on the south-west face.
