Description
This guide pillar, dating from the 19th century, is located at the junction of Brightholmlee Road and Peat Pits Lane, on the south side of the junction. It is made of gritstone and measures approximately 17 inches square and 3 feet 6 inches high. The lettering has been recut in the 20th century and is arranged in recessed bands, with original direction-indicating fingers positioned below. The north-west face features the dates 1860 and 1940 carved into it. A benchmark is located on the north-east side. The inscription on the north-west face reads "BRADFIELD BRIGHTHOLMLEE," while the inscription on the north-east face reads "SHEFFIELD BOLSTERSTONE."
