Description
The Old Post Office is a house built in the mid-19th century, constructed from gritstone ashlar with a horizontally tooled finish and a Welsh slate roof. It features an H-shaped plan in the Gothic revival style and consists of two storeys with three bays. The building has a chamfered plinth and a single-storey, part-glazed wooden porch that fills the central recess. The outer bays are adorned with three-light windows that have trefoiled and pierced heads set under segmental arches, while the window in the third bay has a hoodmould. There is a chamfered sill band at the first floor, with two-light windows in the gables of the outer bays. The design includes Gothic moulded kneelers and copings topped with decorative finials. A projecting lateral stack is located on the left side of the building. On the right side, there is a doorway with a double-chamfered surround and a segmental-arched head, above which is a cross-mullioned stair window. The building is included in the heritage listing partly for its group value.
