Description

The Bradfield Parish Council Offices and flat, originally built as a Wesleyan Chapel in 1817, is a two-storey building made of coursed, squared gritstone with a horizontally punched stone slate roof. The front facade features three windows on the first floor and a plinth. A central panelled double door with an overlight is set within a square-faced ashlar surround, flanked by decorative iron lanterns. The flanking windows are 16-pane sashes in square-faced surrounds. A band inscribed with "WESLEYAN CHAPEL BUILT 1817" runs along the first floor, where there are also three similar sashes and surrounds. The building has a central square wooden louvre with a finial and a projecting stack on the right side. At the rear, there are two central round-headed windows on the first floor, with otherwise similar sashes. The left return features central ground floor windows with two lights, square-faced surrounds, a mullion, and a cornice. Above these are two tall rounded-headed lights with architraves and impost blocks, with casements that have glazing bars. A lean-to extension on the right side is not of special interest.
