Description
The Methodist Chapel, built in 1822 and enlarged in 1835, features a facade that is dated 'Wesleyan Chapel 1835', although this datestone may have been added later to the original structure. The chapel is constructed from small flint pebbles with red brick dressings and has a pantiled roof. It is two storeys high and three bays long. The first two bays contain casement windows, with large panes on the ground floor and small panes on the first floor, both set under segmental arches. The south bay, which is the later addition, has small pane sash windows in flush frames. The facade includes two doorways, each with an original four-panel door featuring moulded panels. The rear gable has two pointed casement windows with Y tracery, although one is partly blocked by a later extension, and the gable is adorned with bargeboards and a spike finial. Inside, the chapel retains a good unaltered interior, featuring a gallery on three sides supported by round timber columns, along with pine benches and a pulpit.
