Description

The Old Chapel is a former Methodist chapel built in 1824. It is constructed of brick, rendered, and features a hipped and gabled pantile roof. The building has a brick plinth, an eaves band, dentillated eaves, quoins, stone sills, and a single coped gable. There is one side wall stack. The chapel is a single storey with two bays. The main north front has a central round-headed doorway with an overlight, flanked by two round-headed sash windows. Above the doorway is a datestone inscribed 'Wesleyan Chapel 1824'. The west side has a central round-headed sash and a single 20th-century casement to the left. The rear features two round-headed sashes, while the east side has one round-headed sash. Inside, there is a matchboarded lobby with a door to the vestry on the left and doors to the kitchen and gallery stairs on the right. The main hall has a matchboarded dado and an enclosed gallery at the rear. Notable fittings include a panelled reading desk and 14 chamfered and panelled softwood benches.
