Description
This guide pillar, located at the junction of Walker Edge, Green Lane, and White Lee Lane on the south-west side of the junction, dates from the 19th century, with its lettering recut in the 20th century. Made of gritstone, it measures approximately 16 inches by 11 inches and stands 4 feet 3 inches high. It is likely a re-used gatepost, featuring a hole pierced through its face. The inscriptions are arranged in recessed bands, with original direction arrows positioned below the letters R and M under the word SHEFFIELD. A benchmark is located at the base. The inscriptions on the north face read: BRADFIELD, SHEFFIELD, WIGHTWIZZLE, and BOLSTERSTONE.
