Description
The guide pillar at Handsome Cross, located on the north side of the road, dates back to 1753. It is made of gritstone and measures approximately 16 inches by 12 inches and stands 5 feet high. The pillar features painted direction arrows and a benchmark.
On the south-west side, it is inscribed with "Bradfield R 1 M 1753." The south-east side has the inscription "Sheffield R 6 M," while the north-east side reads "Peniston R 5 M."
