Description

This listing describes two stone drinking troughs located in Curbar, dating from the early 19th century. One trough is circular and features an overflow, while the other is rectangular and has a stone canopy. The canopy has a pitched roof made of large gritstone slabs and a gabled front, which includes two pointed arched openings that provide access to the trough. The canopy also has stone sides, and the trough is surrounded by a wall made of vertical stone flags. The area around the trough is marked by a series of large millstones that are set into the pavement on edge, extending halfway into the ground.
