Description

Old Cross is a medieval structure located on Fox Lane in the parish of Holmesfield. It features a rectangular gritstone shaft that tapers towards the top. Originally, the shaft had a cross integrated with it, but now only fragmentary remains of the cross head are present. The shaft is set into a roughly shaped rectangular stone base. This monument is also part of Schedule Ancient Monument No 31, which it shares with a nearby cross in Shillito Wood, Holmesfield, that has a similar appearance and size.
