Description

Milepost located on Chesterfield Road in the parish of Baslow and Bubnell, dating from the early 19th century. It is made of cast iron and features a circular shaft that rises to a cylinder with a moulded top, divided into panels by bead mouldings. The milepost is inscribed with the word "LONDON" in embossed lettering and the number "155" in painted lettering. The remaining information has been obscured by white paint. This milepost is part of the Chesterfield to Ashford turnpike established in 1812.
