Description
Mile post located on the south side of Ashford Road in the parish of Hassop. This mile post dates from the early 19th century and is made of cast iron. It features a circular shaft that rises to a cylinder with a moulded top, which is divided into panels by bead mouldings. The word "LONDON" is inscribed in embossed lettering, while the rest of the information, which was painted, is now illegible. This mile post is part of the Chesterfield to Ashford turnpike established in 1812.
