Description

Rose Cottage and Spring Bank are two cottages, originally three, dating to the early 19th century, situated on Main Street in the parish of Great Longstone. The cottages are constructed of rubble limestone with gritstone dressings and quoins. They have a Welsh slate roof with two rendered ridge stacks and a brick gable end stack. Stone coped gables feature moulded kneelers. The north elevation has three bays. The left side has a blocked doorway with a moulded hoodmould. To its right is a window with a square section stone surround and a 20th-century top-hung casement. A similar doorway and window are positioned further to the right, followed by another similar doorway and a window with a glazing bar sash. Above are three windows in square section stone surrounds, all with 20th-century top-hung casements, except the right-hand window which has a glazing bar sash.
