Description

The War Memorial, built around 1920 by John William Bowden, a monumental mason from Matlock, is made of gritstone ashlar. It features a square pier surrounded by eight short obelisks that are linked by metal chains. The pier has a stepped base, a tapering body, and a cornice moulding at the top adorned with foliage moulding. The faces of the memorial are inscribed with the names of those who died in the two world wars, along with various texts. It is signed by BODEN MATLOCK. This memorial is listed for its group value only.
