Description
Corner Cottage and Willow Cottage are a pair of cottages, formerly a shop and cottage, possibly dating from the 17th century, 18th century, and early 19th century. They are constructed from coursed squared sandstone and ashlar, topped with a stone slate roof featuring coped gables and plain kneelers. The building has ashlar ridge and gable stacks and stands two storeys tall.
The southwest elevation consists of five bays, with Corner Cottage on the left having three bays. It features a central doorway with a segmental pointed arch and an ashlar surround, leading to a panelled door. To the right is a 19th-century shop window with six by three panes, flanked by wooden pilasters and a cornice. To the left, there is a recessed and chamfered cross window, with three similar but smaller windows above.
Willow Cottage, on the right, has a doorway with stone lintel and jambs, topped with a bracketed stone hood and a 20th-century glazed door. To the right of this doorway is a 2-light square section flush mullion window, with a similar 2-light window and a single light window above.
