Description
Baslow Bridge is a road bridge located in the parish of Baslow and Bubnell, primarily dating from the early 17th century, with the date 1608 inscribed on the southwest wall. It is constructed of sandstone ashlar and features three stepped round arches supported by six plain ribs below. The bridge has triangular cutwaters that rise to the top, incorporating the parapet. The structure rises towards the center, with a plain chamfer at the base of the parapet and chamfered copings on the outer side. The walls curve outward at both ends. At the northwest end, there is a small gabled toll booth with a stone slate roof and a coped gable featuring moulded kneelers. The doorway of the toll booth is beneath a lintel with a depressed ogee arch. The bridge is also scheduled as an Ancient Monument.
