Description
The Nelson Monument is a Grade II listed structure located in the parish of Baslow and Bubnell, off Chesterfield Road. This monument, erected in 1805, takes the form of a tapering obelisk-like shaft made of gritstone. The square shaft has a pitted finish and stands about ten feet tall, with the top tapering more steeply. It is inscribed with the date "OCT 21/ 1805." The monument was erected by three residents of Baslow in memory of Lord Nelson and to commemorate the Battle of Trafalgar.
