Description
The Brick House and Railings is an early 19th century house located on Church Street in Eyam. It is constructed of red brick with painted stone dressings and features a moulded eaves cornice. The roof is hipped and covered with stone slates, and there are rendered side wall and ridge stacks.
This two-storied, three-bay house has a central doorcase with a semi-circular head. A lattice work porch covers the entrance, which has a flush panelled door with a traceried fanlight above. On either side of the door, there are glazing bar sash windows; the window to the west has a segmental brick head, while the one to the east has a flat gauged brick head. Above the door, there are three similar flat-headed sash windows. The east elevation features four additional flat-headed sash windows arranged two over two.
Attached to the west side of the house is a low ashlar wall with chamfered copings, topped with iron railings that extend around the front of the house. The entrance is marked by central gate piers with rounded tops and a decorative iron gate that matches the railings.
