Description
The barn to the west of Eyam Hall is a late 17th-century structure that has undergone alterations in the 19th and 20th centuries. It is built of limestone and gritstone rubble, with gritstone dressings and quoins. The stone slate roof features a stone gable end stack on the east side, along with moulded stone copings and kneelers at the gables. The barn is two storeys high and consists of four bays.
On the west side, there is a quoined doorcase with a timber lintel that has been filled with a 19th-century window. A similar doorcase is located on the east side, accompanied by a quoined window and timber lintel. There is a large archway with a timber lintel leading to a flight of steps that ascend to a first-floor doorway, which has a plank door. At the extreme east, there is an advanced single-storey bay with double doors. Above this bay, there are three hayloft openings, one of which on the east side has been blocked.
