Description
The garden house and attached garden walls at Eyam Hall date from the late 17th century to the early 18th century. They are constructed from limestone and gritstone rubble, featuring gritstone dressings, copings, and quoins, topped with a stone slate roof. The building has moulded stone coped gables and kneelers and is two storeys high with a single bay.
The west and east elevations display flush quoined chamfered doorcases on the south side, each with plank doors. On the north side, there are two-light recessed and chamfered mullion windows with hoods and 17th-century leaded lights, along with large blocked openings above. A flight of steps leads up to a first-floor door, flanked by a chamfered stone coped side wall. This door is set within a cavetto moulded doorcase and has an early studded wooden door. Adjacent to this is another two-light recessed and chamfered mullion window on the west side, and there is a corner fireplace inside.
Surrounding the garden, there are attached walls made of gritstone and limestone rubble with chamfered copings, with a small section to the north constructed in red brick featuring bands of gritstone.
