Description
Dalehead Farmhouse and the attached barn date from the late 17th century. They are constructed of coursed rubble gritstone with gritstone dressings and feature a stone slate roof, which has one stone ridge stack and one gable end stack. The building is two storeys high.
On the south elevation, the farmhouse is on the left and consists of three bays. There is an off-centre gabled porch with large quoins. The doorway within has a chamfered lintel and jambs, leading to a plank door. To the left of the porch, there are two windows with large, roughly cut lintels; the left window is partly blocked. Above, there are two additional windows, with the left one featuring a square section mullion but an undressed surround, and the right one having a 19th-century casement. To the right of the porch, there is a 2-light recessed and chamfered mullion window on each floor.
The barn is attached to the right of the farmhouse and has large double doors. The rear elevation of the house includes a doorway with a chamfered lintel and quoins, flanked by 2-light recessed and chamfered mullion windows on each side. Inside, there is a stone flag floor and a fireplace with a massive stone bracketed bressumer featuring a moulded cornice.
