Description
The Cottage is a house with a core dating back to the 17th century, though it is mainly from the 18th century. It features painted brick and timber-frame construction with brick infill, topped by a thatched roof. The building is 1½ stories high, with a two-bay section and a taller three-bay section. The front of the house has the taller part on the right-hand side. There is a plank door with a small window above it, sheltered by a hood supported on posts. The right-hand bays have two-light casement windows with segmental heads. A string course runs along the first floor, where there is also a two-light casement window. The lower bays feature two-light casements and a window located under the eaves in the center. Above the right-hand bay, there is a two-light casement window in the eaves, which has been raised to match the level of the taller section, as the roof slopes down towards the left-hand side. The roof is half-hipped, with the ridge sweeping down to the lower part, and there are ridge stacks at each end.
