Description
Thatch End is a house that likely has a core dating from the 16th century, with later alterations. The right section of the house features 19th-century work, while mid-20th-century modifications are found at the back. The left part is timber framed and plastered, topped with a thatched roof, while the right section is primarily rendered brick but includes some of the older structure, with a pantiled roof. The left side has one and a half storeys, and the right side has two storeys. The older part includes two 19th-century three-light casement windows and one four-light eyebrow dormer. There is a mid-20th-century glazed door with a simple gabled porch. On the right side, there is one bay of inset sash windows with glazing bars. Inside, the rear wall features widely spaced studding, and the front wall has been re-studded. The hall ceiling has a deep narrow bridging beam, with joists set flat; the joists are chamfered in the bay closer to the stack and plain in the adjoining bay. The timbers in the left cell are largely concealed, but there is evidence of a diamond-mullioned window in the front wall.
