Description
Cuckoo Hill is a house built between 1902 and 1906 by H. Sumner. It is constructed of brick with a pebbledashed finish and has an old plain tile roof. The building has an H-plan layout with two stories and an attic, featuring a wide central section flanked by wings and three bays deep cross-wings.
The front of the house has a recessed center with a half-glazed door beneath a flat hood. On either side of the door are 8-pane sash windows, and above them is a three-light sliding casement window. The left wing has a single-storey bow with three flush-frame 12-pane windows and a moulded brick coping. Above this bow are paired 12-pane sashes with sliding shutters and a two-light sliding casement window in the gable. The right wing features paired 12-pane sashes with sliding shutters, and above this is a 16-pane sash window with sliding shutters. In the center of the roof, there is a two-light sliding casement window in a flat-roofed dormer.
The house has a ridge stack at the junction of the left wing and the main part, as well as a stack in the roof face to the right of the center, aligned with the right wing. Additionally, there is a square-plan glazed cupola with a lead roof located behind the center part of the right wing.
