Description

The Thatched Cottage is a farmhouse dating from the 17th century, with alterations made in the mid-20th century. It features a roughcast exterior over random rubble and a thatched roof, with brick stacks at the gable ends. The building has an "L"-shaped plan, likely consisting of three cells and a cross passage, along with a single cell cross wing and attached 20th-century lean-to additions in the angle.

The cottage is one and a half storeys tall and has a layout of 1:2 bays. On the left gable end, there is a tall glazed opening, likely a stair light, and to the right, a tiny lancet window which probably serves as ventilation for a curing chamber. The early 19th-century features include a two-light iron leaded casement dormer and a gabled 19th-century two-light wooden casement window to the right. The ground floor cross wing is unlit, and the entrance is now located in the single-storey lean-to addition on the right, which has a 20th-century two-light casement window. There is also a three-light iron leaded casement to the right with a tiny glazed opening beyond. The original entrance is centrally located, featuring a plank door and a gabled thatched rustic wooden porch, while the main entrance has a 20th-century plank door. The interior has not been viewed.
