Description

Manor Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the mid to late 18th century. It is constructed of coursed rubble and has a thatched roof. This section represents a later wing built to what was formerly a farmhouse with a 17th-century range; the original range was demolished. The wing is set gable-end to the road. The exterior is two storeys high and symmetrical, with three windows. At the eaves are two three-light wooden casements, a small two-light window above the front door, and a single light to the left of centre. The ground floor features large tripartite six-pane sash windows to the right, with a segmental brick head and flush voussoirs, and to the left, a wooden lintel. The central panelled door is sheltered by a thatched hood supported by 'cottage ornée' props. A brick stack is located to the right, and a large external stone stack is to the left. The left gable has 20th-century single casement windows at both floors to the right of the stack. The rear wall has a plain door and an outshut with a corrugated-iron roof. A straight joint in the front wall at the left end of the upper floor suggests a previous opening; remaining jamb stones indicate that a larger central first-floor window once existed. Remains of farm outbuildings are attached to the right gable end. The interior was not inspected.
