Description

The Spice Ship Inn is an inn dating from the early 19th century, constructed of painted rubble with a slate roof. It features a service wing to the right, which is also made of rubble but has brick dressings and a slate roof. The main building is a long, two-storey structure with a low-pitched hipped roof and a long central rear wing that has a slightly lower ridge and outer gable end.

On the right end, there is a painted brick bay that connects to the service unit, featuring a central flush gable. The inn has two storeys with seven windows, all of which are sash windows with plank external shutters. The first floor contains five 9-pane windows, with a blind opening on the far left and a 12-pane window at a lower level on the right. The ground floor has four 16-pane windows set beneath cambered lintels. To the far left, there is a 6-panel flush door from the 19th century, and on the far right, in the painted brick link, another 16-pane window with shutters.

At the centre, there are a pair of glazed doors leading to a lobby with internal doors, set within a cambered arch. The rear of the building includes flat dormer windows and features a rounded outer corner on the west end. The later range has a stack on its left, a loading door above a shuttered opening, and a large loading bay with a 20th-century shutter on the gable end. The interior has not been inspected.
