Description
Stream Farmhouse is a farmhouse dated 1616, which was reroofed and had its windows changed in the late 19th century. The building is roughcast over rubble with exposed quoins and a moulded plinth. It has an asbestos slate roof with overhanging eaves and decorative bargeboards. There are brick stacks on the right gable end, set below the gable on the left and to the left of the cross passage.
The plan consists of three cells and a cross passage. The farmhouse is one and a half storeys high with two bays on each side. All windows are 19th-century casements, and there are gabled two-light dormers with decorative bargeboards. The ground floor features three-light windows, with two to the left and one to the right of the entrance. A gabled porch with a slate roof is supported by wooden columns set in a dwarf wall, and it has a plank door with two glazed openings.
To the left of the entrance, there is a date plaque from 1619 that may feature a rose bush design, similar to the 1616 date plaque at No. 3 Robert Street, Williton. It possibly includes the initials HW (Wyndham) printed in reverse. Inside, the partition for the cross passage on the right has been removed, revealing chamfered beams with spade stops. The coeval room at the rear may have cob construction. To the left of the cross passage, there is a nine-panel compartment ceiling with steeply chamfered beams, partly cut by an inserted rear corridor. The fireplace has a chamfered wooden lintel and stone jambs. The end room on the left appears to have been rebuilt, likely in the late 19th century, and there is a stair turret at the rear.
