Description

Giant's Cave is a landscape feature in the form of a ruin, located in the park of Orchard Wyndham. It dates from the mid to late 18th century and consists of very large undressed blocks of red sandstone, which are irregularly placed to form sections of wall about 2.5 metres high. The structure is S-shaped and set into a hillside within a wooded area. Two openings have been identified in the walls. It is believed that the ruin has become more dilapidated over the last two decades and was partially obscured by ivy during a survey in February 1984. There is no evidence to suggest that caves were originally part of the structure. The site is also known as the Blue Grotto.
