Description

Garden House, formerly known as Orchard Garden Cottage, is a Grade II listed building dating from around 1710. It is constructed of red sandstone random rubble, with the south front featuring English bond red brick that extends approximately three meters to the east and west. The building has Bath stone dressings and a hipped roof covered in bitumen with slate, topped by a large central brick chimney.

The structure is designed in a double pile, Baroque style, and consists of two storeys with three bays. The outer bays have three-light casements, while the center has an oval window that has been blocked. On the ground floor, there are 18-pane sash windows set in raised surrounds with moulded keystones. The entrance is located on the left return, featuring a moulded architrave, keystone, and a 19th-century door, with a similar blocked opening on the right return. The rear elevation showcases an early 18th-century cruciform leaded window.

Inside, the south front contains one large room with unplastered brick walls and a bolection moulded fireplace. Garden House is situated within the park of Orchard Wyndham, serving as an attractive landscape feature for informal meals and entertainment.
