Description
No. 10 West Street is a former house and shop that has been converted into a dental surgery. It dates from the mid-19th century and features solid rendered walls and a slated roof that is hipped to the right. There is a small rendered chimney on the left gable. The building is two storeys high and three windows wide, with a two-window return facing Kingsbridge Lane.
The ground floor includes a round-arched doorway that is flanked by pilasters and topped with a cornice on consoles. The door is half-glazed with a moulded bottom panel. To the left of the doorway, there is a segmental-arched display window, also flanked by pilasters and topped with a plain triangular pediment.
On the upper storey, there are three round-arched windows, with the left two paired together. These windows have pilasters that rise from a moulded sill-band and are adorned with moulded archivolts featuring vermiculated keystones. The building also has a deep bracketed eaves-cornice. The return front displays a similar architectural style. This property is included for its group value.
