Description
9 and 9A West Street is a house with a shop, dating from the early to mid 19th century. The building features slate-hung front, rear, and side walls, which are almost certainly built on a timber frame. It has a hipped slated roof and a rendered chimney on the left side wall. The structure stands four storeys tall and has two widely spaced windows, along with one window in the exposed part of the left side wall. The late 19th-century shop front is complemented by a 9-panelled house door to the right, with the six lower panels flush and the top three panels now glazed, along with a three-paned fanlight above. The upper storey is slightly jettied, and the windows are fitted with 6 and 8-paned sashes in moulded flush frames. Notably, the front of the building appears to overlap the right-hand end of No 7.
