Description
No.13, West Street is a former house, now offices, dating from the mid-18th century. It is a double-fronted, double-depth building with a centre passage. The walls are solid and rendered, with a lined finish to imitate masonry. The roof is slated, probably with a centre valley, and has two rendered chimneys placed centrally. The front has three storeys and three windows. A doorway is flanked by fluted Doric pilasters supporting a flat hood on shaped brackets; the door consists of four ovolo-moulded panels above and four flush panels in the shape of a St Andrew's Cross below. The outer windows have eight panes, except for the lower ground storey sashes which now have only two panes. The centre windows have six panes. A raised band is present above the ground storey, and the front is flanked by rusticated pilaster strips. A coved eaves-cornice completes the facade. The side walls are exposed and have no windows. The interior was not inspected, but the right-hand front room contains a cupboard with shaped shelves.
