Description
No. 16 West Street is a house with a shop, dating from the early 18th century, with a shop front that is either early or mid 19th century. The front is rendered, likely over a timber frame, and is designed to imitate masonry. The building has a slated roof and features an old rendered chimney on each gable. It is two storeys high with a garret and has four windows across the front. There are rusticated pilaster strips on either side, and a cornice at the first floor level. The windows are 6-paned sashes. On the ground floor, there is a single window to the left, while the shop front to the right includes a shop door flanked by display windows, each with a single upright glazing-bar, and a house door to the left. These elements are separated by pilasters that support an entablature. The building also has a boxed eaves-cornice and two triangular dormers with slate-hung faces, each containing a 2-light wood casement window with 6 panes per light.
