Description

The Gateway to Woodchester Park is a Grade II listed structure dating from the early 18th century. It features limestone construction with wrought iron gates. The gateway is flanked by large, square rusticated piers, each adorned with carved arms of the Ducie family. The piers have bold cornice tops topped with ball finials. The decorative iron gates are designed with scrollwork that rises towards the center and are hung from ironwork side panels. This gateway was built around the same time as the 18th-century Ducie house, which was demolished in 1845 when the estate was purchased by William Leigh.
