Description
The gatepiers and gates on the north side of the east garden at Avebury Manor are listed as a Grade II structure. The gatepiers date from before 1724 and have been relocated, while the gate is likely from the 18th or 19th century. The piers are made of rubble sarsen stone and feature limestone cappings. The iron gates include side sections and an overthrow with crestings. The piers have tall conical tops that end in ball finials, which are probably the same as those depicted in Stukeley's engraving of the east access to the house.
