Description

The cartshed and store located about 25 meters north of the barn at Tanhouse Farm is a small agricultural building dating from the early 16th century. It is constructed of brick on a plinth, with some timber-framing on the south side, and features a tile roof with a half hip to the west. The building is rectangular and consists of a single room with an adjoining passage that is open to the north side, along with two small attic rooms above. The roof on the north side includes arched windbracing at a lower level. There is a small gabled dormer on the south side, which contains a three-light leaded wood casement. Originally, the building had a large stone stack that has been partially removed and lacks a flue, backing onto the passage. The lower level room features a chamfered and stopped beam, with triangular stops to the joists. Additionally, there is a doorway at the rear that has a wood Tudor arch surround.
