Description
Wades Mill is a former mill house that has been converted into a detached house. It dates back to the early 17th century and was refronted around 1820. The building features an ashlar limestone front, with random rubble on the sides and the rear wing, and has ashlar chimneys. The roofs are covered with stone slate and concrete tiles.
The structure is two stories high with an attic and includes a long rear wing. The front of the house has three windows, all of which are 12-pane sashes set in plain openings. There is a central doorway with a four-panel door and a rectangular light above it that has decorative glazing bars. The gable end chimneys are plain.
On the west gable end, there is 17th-century rubble masonry and a blocked two-light recessed cavetto mullioned casement on the ground floor, which features a hoodmould. The rear of the building has a lean-to at the angle with the rear wing and a gabled dormer on the rear slope of the front range. The rear range has single and two-light recessed chamfered mullioned windows, all with hoodmoulds. The range has been extended beyond the original gable end chimney stack, which has now been rebuilt in brick. The interior has not been inspected.
